Coming Soon 2021
Vero joined the Diary team in March with the hopes of the project finding its way to the stage in October. Given COVID-19, the world-premiere has been scheduled for 2021.
Devised, dr.faustus-inspired musical workshop
My intention in going to UC Berkeley for undergrad was to pursue a career in Applied Mathematics. Inspired by the activist theatre scene in the San Francisco Bay Area, I graduated, instead, with a B.A. in Theatre & Performance Studies, a minor in Spanish, and a hunger for more conservatory-style training. As I graduate from The Theatre School with my MFA in Acting (and represented by Paonessa Talent Agency in Chicago), I am inspired by the belief that theatre can wish new realities into existence. By making space for marginalized realities on historically white, heteronormative, text-centric stages, I believe art has the power to break generational curses. Some of my specific interests include QTPOC and Latinx narratives, the processing and healing of grief, devised work, interview-based solo performance, and movement-based storytelling
On Monday, July 26, Vero began rehearsals as Assistant Director for Faust-inspired devised work at Prop Thtr.

National new play network virtual annual conference
Vero Assistant Directs a staged reading of a devised-piece through Prop Thtr at the National New Play Network Annual Conference. "Diary of an Erotic Life" was read virtually due the COVID-19 pandemic and was the only show showcased from Chicago. Vero will stay with the production through its staging.
snackers and the mysterious search
Vero directed, starred, and co-adapted, BUILD Literacy’s first children’s book, “Snackers and the Mysterious Search" into an interactive performance for under-resourced K-5th grade students. The performance took place on the UC Berkeley campus and there were nearly 200 school-age students in attendance. Call and response, soundscapes, and dance were weaved into the show.
THE RIVER BRIDe, staged reading
Vero produced and directed the inaugural event of LA TTS, Latinx Arists at The Theatre School, a group of which she is also a founding member. This event consisted of a staged reading of Marisela Treviño Orta's The River Bride, "a grim Latino fairytale," to celebrate Latinx mythology. A talkback led by Liz Lyles followed the performance. Pictured is the cast from left to right: Laura Rojas, Simone Brazzini, Maricruz Menchero, Leslie Perez, Matthew Martinez Hannon, Colin Huerta, and Antonio Rodriguez.
MARISOl, STAGED READING & RAICES FUNDRAISER
Vero was invited to direct again for Latinx Artists at The Theatre School. This event consisted of a staged reading of José Rivera's Marisol, where all proceeds were donated to RACIES, or The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services. A talkback led by Brenda González-Nuñez followed the performance. Pictured is the cast from left to right: Amelia Hernandez, Derek Spaldo, Neysha Mendoza, Courtney Tucker, Jesi Mullins, and Annie Reznik.
Director's showcase, uc berkeley
As an advanced directing student in UC Berkeley's Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies Department, Vero directed and choreographed an absurdist take on Anton Chekhov's short-play, A Marriage Proposal. The cast featured Erendira Di Guisippe , Sam Peurach, and Titus Ting who clowned their hearts out.
